Sobieszewo Island is a great place for water sports! Canoeing creates a unique opportunity to see the Island from a very different perspective and admire its beauty even more. The canoeing routes vary – from going around the Island, through Gdańsk to even canoeing on the sea, with the waves accounting for more fun. Learn more about the Island’s attractions!
Sobieszewo Island is fairly young. It wasn’t untill 1895 when Przekop Wisly has been officially opened under the orders of German Kaiser Wilhelm II. To get to know more about Sobieszewo’s history, go to the History page to read stories by Waldemar Nocny.
Sobieszewo Island is located around 18 km from Gdańsk city center. The easiest way to get to this extraordinary home of nature reserves Ptasi Raj and Mewia Łacha, sandy beaches, pine woods and breathtaking views are public transportation, car, bike, yachts and canoes. The Polish Scouting and Guiding Association instructors, involved in the World Scout Jamboree project, took part in Free Time Festival in Gdańsk on April 1st- 2nd 2017. As scouts, they simply could not miss this biggest free time festival, as its idea involves outdoor activities, tourist attractions of Poland and environmental education.

A meeting about Sobieszewo Island, organized by Social Developement Department of Gdańsk City Hall took place on April 10th 2017 in Stara Wędzarnia in Gdańsk. The participants discussed the letter of intent and contests for the citizens. They also took part in innovative workshops with Mr. Aldo de Moor from Holland.
